EARLY HEAD START CLASSROOM AIDE

Supervised By:            Early Head Start Coordinator
Supervises:            No direct supervisory responsibility

General Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Early Head Start Coordinator, aides in facilitating group socialization activities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Minimum Qualifications:

·      Educational requirements include High School Diploma, or equivalent.

·       Basic knowledge of the practices used in maintaining a clean and sanitary group socialization environment, and in the safe handling of food.

·      Basic knowledge of the techniques used in interacting with children in a group socialization setting.
·      Preferably experience working with infants and toddlers.

·      Knowledge of nutrition and the basic food pyramid.

·    Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgment, initiative and resourcefulness when dealing with students, parents, and other employees.

·   Ability to run group socializations independently upon request.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is typically in classroom setting where they are regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects of light to moderate weight.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
