Early Head Start
Early Head Start is a program children and families from birth to three years and includes:
- Home based services (staff comes to the home)
- Activities for you and your infant or toddler
- Ideas on parenting
- Support for Heath and Nutrition Education
- Support during pregnancy
- Information regarding community access to adult education, computer training and job readiness
- Referral Services
Early Head Start provides these services at no charge to eligible families
enrolled in our program:
- Safe and nurturing environments
- Stable place of residence
- Access to health care
Other Services Provided By Early Head Start Include:
- Regular Home visits
- Parent Education
- Transportation to group activities
- Support Groups
- Family Fun Days
- Child Development Education
- Linkage to Community Services and Resources
- Transition into Appropriate Pre-School Programs
Priority for enrollment may include the following:
- Teen parents
- First-time parents
- Pregnancy
- Families on public assistance
- Low school achievement
- Children with diagnosed disabilities
- Single parents
- At-risk families affected by:
- Substance Abuse
- Violence
- Delinquency, incarceration
- Health conditions
- Lack of prenatal care
Infants and toddlers need: Nurturing, Support, Security, Predictability, Focus, Encouragement, Expansion, and so do their families!
